After a few days of preparation, Jeremy rushed to the city to organize his belongings and gather the important documents needed for his upcoming adventure. Though he felt excited for the new opportunities ahead, his heart ached at the thought of leaving behind his kind and wonderful girlfriend, Jenny. He knew, however, that his decision was for their future—a step closer to building the life they had dreamed of together.
Each day before his flight, Jeremy's father repeatedly reminded him of what to do and what to bring. As this was Jeremy's first time going abroad, he had to navigate many unfamiliar tasks and responsibilities.
As Jeremy prepared his belongings, his phone buzzed with a call from his father.
Father: "Jeremy, son! Listen carefully. I need to remind you—again—what you need to do and what to avoid. This is your first time flying abroad, so you must be physically, mentally, and spiritually ready." Jeremy: (smiling) "Yes, Dad, I know. You’ve told me that a dozen times already! Don’t worry—I’m making sure everything’s in order."
He chuckled softly as he ended the call, amused by his father’s endless reminders. Just as he returned to packing, his phone rang again. This time, seeing Jenny's name on the screen made his face light up.
Jeremy: "Oh, love! How are you? Hearing from you just made my day." Jenny: (laughing) "Love, we talk every morning and evening! Don’t tell me you’ve missed me already." Jeremy: "Of course, I miss you! I think about you every second." Jenny: "Aww, you’re sweet. Anyway, I have a surprise for you. I’ll send it tomorrow." Jeremy: "A surprise? Now you’ve got me curious. What is it?" Jenny: "It’s a thick long-sleeved shirt with our engraved names on it. I know you’re headed to a cold place, and I want you to stay warm—and think of me every time you wear it." Jeremy: (grinning) "Oh, Jenny, you’re amazing. That’s perfect! It’s stylish, thoughtful, and so us. I’ll treasure it forever. You really know how to make me smile." Jenny: "I’m glad you like it. But promise me you’ll take care of yourself, okay? You don’t need to get me anything in return." Jeremy: "No way, Jenny. Once I get there and settle in, I’ll send you a huge gift—a special one, just for you." Jenny: "You’re already my greatest gift, Jeremy. As long as we have each other, I’m happy." Jeremy: (softly) "I love you, Jenny. Thank you for always being my strength." Jenny: "I love you too, Jeremy. Goodnight, my love. I’ll wait for your return."
Despite the chaos, Jeremy made it a point to call Jenny every morning and evening. Their conversations were comforting, yet bittersweet, as they both felt the pain of knowing it would be a long wait before they could reunite.
Meanwhile, in the countryside, Jenny remained busy assisting her mother with their small store during the day and working at the hospital at night. Her days were tiring, but she stayed hopeful, knowing her sacrifices would eventually pay off. Surrounded by the love of her family and friends, Jenny drew strength from the bonds she cherished.
The day of Jeremy's flight finally arrived. Before boarding, he called Jenny for one last conversation—a heartfelt exchange filled with promises and declarations of love. He wore his long-sleeved shirt with their engraved names stitched into the fabric, proudly showing his devotion as a one-woman man. Their separation was not due to a hidden agenda or conflict but a conscious choice to chase their dreams first—a necessary step toward fulfilling their hopeful promise to each other.
