Chapter 5: A New Chapter Unfolds

Jeremy arrived in Canada, stepping into a new world far from the familiarity of home. His father, who worked at the airport, greeted him warmly—but he wasn’t alone. Standing beside him was a strikingly beautiful woman, her presence radiating confidence. Introductions followed, and Jeremy learned her name: Alice.

At first, Jeremy couldn’t help but feel curious and cautious about her sudden appearance. His father, ever the joker, mentioned that Alice was the girl he should marry. Jeremy laughed nervously, assuming it was all in good fun. Alice’s polite, seemingly indifferent smile only reinforced his belief that it was just a jest to lighten the mood.

From the airport, they headed straight to Alice’s house. Jeremy’s curiosity deepened—why was his father living in someone else’s home? The question finally spilled out: “I thought you had your own place. Why are you living here?”

His father brushed off the question as if it were unimportant, but then dropped a bombshell: “She’s not a stranger, Jeremy. In a few months, she’ll be your wife. Don’t say no, or you’ll regret it.”

The revelation left Jeremy speechless. Before he could fully process the situation, Alice returned with plates of food, her calm demeanor masking any hints of the storm brewing within Jeremy. “Your room is ready,” she said, gesturing toward the stairs.

Once they were alone, Alice turned to Jeremy. Her voice was steady, but her words carried weight. “You’ll be my husband soon, Jeremy. If you refuse… your father might end up in jail.” The shock of her statement left him reeling. As Alice departed, he was left with disbelief and a whirlwind of thoughts.

Meanwhile, back home, Jenny held onto her own hopes for a fresh beginning with Jeremy. Her thoughts often drifted to her boyfriend, yet she remained optimistic about the future. Unbeknownst to her, a new presence was about to change everything.

Dr. Calex Adam, a neurosurgeon and the son of a prestigious family, had just moved to the province. Despite his parents’ expectations for him to take over the family business, he had chosen to escape the pressure and forge his own path in medicine. His striking looks and quiet determination caught the attention of many, but it was Jenny who truly captivated him. From afar, he admired her beauty and grace, destined to play a significant role in her life.
