The Six Lazy Turtle Siblings

Long ago, on the beautiful island of Kora, the people were known for their strength, resilience, and deep devotion to family and farming. Among them was one peculiar family—the only one whose children were known not for their diligence, but for their laziness.

These six turtle siblings were the laughingstock of the island, infamous for their refusal to work. While other young turtles helped their parents in the farms, they only cared about swimming competitions.

At first, other turtles challenged them, but the siblings proved unbeatable in the water. Over time, the other turtles gave up on competing and chose instead to focus on their futures, their families, and their responsibilities. But the six siblings remained unchanged, believing that being great swimmers was more important than anything else.

Their ageing parents begged them to help in the farm, reminding them of the skills they had once learned as young lings. But the siblings ignored their pleas, too caught up in their obsession with swimming.

Then—disaster struck.

A powerful typhoon smashed their house, and in a desperate attempt to protect it, their father was hit by a large rock, leaving him injured and weak. Their mother pleaded for their help—to care for their father, to farm so they would have food to eat.

But once again, they ignored her, believing that their swimming skills could somehow save them. They thought their rivals would bring them food, but no one challenged them anymore.

Days passed, then weeks. Their father’s health worsened, and their mother grew weary. When they finally returned home, their food supply was gone, and their parents lay weak in bed.

For the first time in their lives, the siblings panicked.

Their mother instructed them to cook from their food storage, but they struggled to even prepare a simple meal—they had forgotten everything they had once learned.

Then, one night, a visitor arrived.

It was the Grandfather Turtle, the wisest elder of the island. He had heard of their laziness, their selfishness, and how they had become a burden to the community.

As he inspected their home, he saw the truth—the siblings' house was poorly built, full of holes, and their family was the poorest in all of Kora.

Despite their failures, he offered them a chance to help their parents on one condition: They must take responsibility and complete ten important tasks to prove they had changed.

At first, they complained, resisting the hard work ahead. But knowing their parents' lives depended on their actions, they reluctantly agreed.

The tasks were demanding: 1️⃣ Clean their home and learn the basics of daily chores. 2️⃣ Fix the house, covering the holes and strengthening the walls. 3️⃣ Restore the farm, bringing back the crops that were once plentiful. 4️⃣ Raise livestock, ensuring food for their family. 5️⃣ Go fishing and provide their parents with fresh meals daily. 6️⃣ Harvest their fields, learning the value of hard work. 7️⃣ Plant root crops to secure food for the future. 8️⃣ Build a well, so their family would have easy access to fresh water. 9️⃣ Make peace with the community, rebuilding trust and friendships. 🔟 Inspire others, showing that even the laziest can change.

At first, every task felt impossible, exhausting. But as time passed, something changed.

The siblings discovered joy in working.

🏡 They rebuilt their home beautifully, making it a place of warmth and security. 🐓 They raised chickens and livestock, ensuring food for their family. 🌾 They harvested crops and planted more, realising how fulfilling it was to see their efforts bring life. 🎣 They went fishing, not for competition but to feed their parents and share with neighbours. 🌊 They swam—but not to win. Now, they swam to gather food, help others, and build friendships.

The island began to see their transformation. Their former rivals became their closest friends, and the once-disappointed villagers now respected them.

Three months passed, and their parents fully healed. The Grandfather Turtle returned, amazed by their progress, telling them that they had finally earned their place among the hardworking turtles of Kora.

Their once disappointed parents were now proud, seeing their children thrive. Their family became rich, happy, and respected.

And from that moment on, the six siblings never returned to their lazy ways—they lived with purpose, kindness, and gratitude, continuously inspiring the island with their transformation.

Moral Lesson:

Hard work and responsibility bring true happiness.Success isn’t about winning—it’s about purpose, perseverance, and caring for others.Ignoring responsibilities leads to hardship, but change is always possible.Helping family and community strengthens bonds, creates peace, and builds a better life.
